Camilla Wicks studied with Louis Persinger, who also taught Menuhin, Ricci, and Bustabo, and later with Henri Temianka, whose intellectual approach complemented Persinger's teaching.

Camilla Wicks's father, Ingwald Wicks, was an excellent violinist who trained in Paris and performed at the Salle Gaveau, but an injury during World War One ended his aspirations for a major career.

The bulk of these recordings were neglected for many years in radio archives or Camilla Wicks's home, and their restoration was a painstaking task.

Composition History

Ernest Bloch's 'Abodah' was inspired by and composed for the young violinist Yehudi Menuhin, who was Louis Persinger's first and most famous student.
