Klaidi Sahatci, the violinist on this album, was born in Albania and became concertmaster of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich in 2009, after serving as violon solo of the National Orchestra of Lyon.

Alexander Tcherepnin's Violin Sonata in C minor, featured on this album, was recently discovered at the Paul Sacher Foundation archives in Basel and edited by pianist Giorgio Koukl for this recording.

Composer Biography
Nikolay Tcherepnin, one of the composers on this album, was a student of Rimsky-Korsakov and premiered his ballet Le Pavillon d'Armide with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Alexander Tcherepnin's musical language was influenced by 'Eurasian' ideology and a concept he called 'healing by folklore', drawing inspiration from Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Persian traditions.

Alexander Tcherepnin, the other composer on this album, developed a unique 'nine-step scale' in 1918, which he consciously theorized in 1922, combining major and minor hexachords.
Composer Biography
Nikolay Tcherepnin taught at the St Petersburg Conservatory from 1905 to 1918, where he was described by Prokofiev as the 'liveliest and most interesting' of his teachers.
