Composer Biography
Hauschka once tried working as a woodworker, chopping trees daily for firewood, which he found exhausting but made him feel 'totally alive'.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Hauschka finds a connection between urban environments like Manhattan and forests, seeing the city's buildings as a 'forest' where instincts are needed.
Recording & Production
The album was recorded at Vox-Ton Studio in Berlin on August 20, 2017, and January 16, 2018, with additional recordings at Studio Zwei in Düsseldorf.
Composer Biography
Hauschka, the composer, grew up near one of Germany's largest forest areas, where he often went on day-long hikes.
Composer's Artistic Vision
The album's concept, 'A Different Forest', explores the idea that memory and thought are deeply intertwined with external things, particularly woods and trees.
