Performer Biography

As a child, Alexander Brailowsky's talent was recognized by Sergej Rachmaninoff, the Imperial Inspector of the Russian Schools of Music, who prophesied he would be a great pianist.

Notable Performances

Alexander Brailowsky was the first pianist in history to perform Chopin's complete works in a series of six concerts over three weeks, starting in 1924.

Theodor Leschetizky, Alexander Brailowsky's teacher, believed in preserving and developing the individuality of his pupils rather than imposing a strict method.

These recordings were made by the German gramophone company Polydor in Berlin between 1928 and 1934, and their original matrices were destroyed during the 1940-45 bombardment.
