Antti Auvinen studied composition at both the "old-fashioned" Prague Music Academy and the "complete artistic freedom" Amsterdam Conservatory, a combination that helped him discover his creative idiom.

Compositional Technique

Unlike many post-Serialist composers who focused on pitches, Antti Auvinen was more interested in rhythms and tonal color, expanding his palette with extended playing techniques and everyday objects as percussion.
