Performer Biography

Konstantin Scherbakov, the pianist on this recording, won the first Rachmaninov Competition in Moscow in 1983 and performed all of Rachmaninov's solo piano works for Sviatoslav Richter.

Recording & Production

The Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, featured on this recording, was originally formed as a recording ensemble and won a Gramophone Prize in 2006 for a Shostakovich recording.

Compositional Technique
