Igor Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat was conceived as a small-scale travelling show to help him financially after losing income from Russia due to the Revolution.

Davide Bandieri, the clarinetist, was appointed first solo clarinet in the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra in 2012, after serving as first piccolo clarinet in the Madrid Symphony Orchestra.

Gerardo Vila, the pianist, won the First Prize at the "Maria Canals" International Piano Competition in Barcelona in 1989.

This album was recorded in the Salle Renaissance of the Alexis Forel Museum in Morges, Switzerland, just 300 meters from where Igor Stravinsky composed L'Histoire du Soldat.

Claude Debussy's Première Rhapsodie for clarinet and piano was written for a competition launched by the Paris Conservatoire, where Debussy was a jury member.
