Composition History
Schubert's 'Arpeggione' Sonata was written for the arpeggione, a then-new and now almost extinct instrument invented only a year prior to the sonata's creation in 1823 by Johann Georg Staufer.

The album title and theme, 'Arpeggio', were inspired by Julian Arp's and his uncle Klaus Arp's shared amusement at finding the letters 'Arp' in longer words or license plates.
Composer Biography
Klaus Arp, in whose memory this album is dedicated, was a conductor, composer, pianist, and double bassist who led his own jazz combo and an ensemble for minimal music.
Recording & Production
This album was recorded over four days in October 2020 at the SWR Studio Kaiserslautern, a place where Julian Arp's uncle, Klaus Arp, used to work.
