The album originated from a request by Martin Korn of Sony Music for Marie-Claude Chappuis to record traditional Swiss folk songs.
Performer Biography
Marie-Claude Chappuis, the mezzo-soprano on this album, began singing "Là-haut sur la montagne" at the age of three and learned to yodel in her mother's womb.
Interpretation
For each melody, Marie-Claude Chappuis developed a unique musical concept to give new color or particular relief to these songs, which were initially written for choirs.

Marie-Claude Chappuis selected folk songs from all four regions of Switzerland that held a particular emotional connection or childhood memories for her.

Luca Pianca, a valued musical collaborator, enthusiastically contributed arrangements and brought musicians from his Ensemble Claudiana to the project.
