Composition History
The Solo Cello Suite was composed by Boris Tchaikovsky in 1946 at the request of Mstislav Rostropovich, a fellow student at the Moscow Conservatory, and was later revised and dedicated to him.

Haik Kazazyan, the violinist on this album, is a prizewinner of numerous international music competitions, including the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

Boris Tchaikovsky, a Russian composer, studied composition under three great Russian masters: Vissarion Shebalin, Dmitry Shostakovich, and Nikolay Myaskovsky at the Moscow Conservatory.

Olga Solovieva, the pianist, was awarded the Best Accompanist Prize at the XII International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and is also a Boris Tchaikovsky Society Award Winner.
