Bach's son, Carl Philipp, a gifted musician, likely composed the bass line for the Sonata in C Major, as the surviving manuscript is in his hand with attribution to his father.

Composition History
The Trio Sonata in C Minor and the Sonata in E Major were likely composed by Bach to please Frederick the Great, King of Prussia and an amateur flutist, who was his son Carl Philipp's employer.
Interpretation
The harpsichordist on this recording uses a tuning system hypothesized by musicologist Bradley Lehman to be Bach's own, which allows each key to have a distinctive tonal flavor.
