This album features two historic organs: the Christian Müller organ in the Waalse Kerk, Amsterdam, and the Joseph Gabler organ in the Basilica of Weingarten.
Performer Biography
Ton Koopman has received numerous awards, including the Prix d'Excellence twice, the 3M Prize for his services to ancient music, and a Golden CD for his recording of Bach's St Matthew Passion.
Instruments
The Gabler organ in Weingarten Basilica, built by Joseph Gabler, a joiner who had not previously built organs, took 13 years to complete and was consecrated in 1750.

The Müller organ in Amsterdam's Waalse Kerk, originally built in the 15th century and rebuilt by Christian Müller in 1733/34, had its original disposition, pitch, and temperament restored in 1963-65.
Performer Biography
Ton Koopman, the organist on this recording, founded the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra in 1979 and the Amsterdam Baroque Choir in 1992.
