The modern concert grand harp, which allows for full chromaticism, only evolved in the early 19th century with the invention of the double-action pedal harp by Sebastian Erard in 1810.

Julia Shaw and Nora Bumanis, Canada's only professional harp duo, began their collaboration during the Olympic Arts Festival in Calgary in 1988.

Bach's genius as a composer was little recognized for a century after his death, though an obituary notice declared him 'the greatest organ and clavier player that ever lived.'
Interpretation
Performing Bach's music with two harpists ensures a more authentic and accurate rendering, as the feet of harpists manipulate all accidentals through seven pedals.
