Tobias Feldmann, the violinist on this album, began his advanced music studies at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg at the age of eight.

In his Sonata for Violin solo, Béla Bartók indicates that quartertones should be played, and this recording features the Bartók sound with his natural quarter-tones.
Composition History
Béla Bartók's Sonata for Violin solo Sz. 117, which pays homage to Bach, was commissioned by violinist Yehudi Menuhin in 1943 after Menuhin performed Bach's C major solo sonata.

This album is a co-production with the Deutscher Musikrat Projekt gGmbH and was recorded in May 2013 at the Jesus-Christus-Kirche Dahlem in Berlin, Germany.

Boris Kusnezow, the pianist on this album, made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2011, two years after winning the German Music Competition.
