This album was recorded at the Phoenix Studio in Diósd, Hungary, from January 14th to 17th, 2000.
Historical Context
Bartók emigrated to the United States in 1940 due to dissatisfaction with the Horthy government's growing association with National Socialist Germany.

Bartók developed a deep interest in the folk-music of Hungary and adjacent countries, collaborating with Zoltán Kodály and later with Turkish composer Adnan Saygun.
