Beethoven's Sonatas, Op. 2, published in 1795, served as his 'calling card' in Vienna as a composer, as he was already famous as a keyboard virtuoso.

The recordings on this album were originally filmed by Stewart French, the filmmaker behind Fly On The Wall, and each movement is a single, uncut take.

Boris Giltburg won First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2013, which significantly advanced his career.

Boris Giltburg, the pianist on this album, was born in Moscow, moved to Tel Aviv at an early age, and studied with his mother and then with Arie Vardi.
