Acclaimed Israeli pianist Boris Giltburg’s second album of Beethoven sonatas features Nos. 4–7. All were written between 1795 and 1798, placing them within the composer’s early period. No. 4 in E flat major, Op. 7, is a substantial work called the “Great” by Beethoven himself, and Nos. 5, 6 and 7 together comprise his Op. 10. Giltburg is embarking on a complete Beethoven sonata cycle for Naxos – all recorded live.
