Georges Lentz's Violin Concerto is inspired by William Blake's epic poem 'Jerusalem', particularly its mystical worlds of angels and monsters in an apocalyptic setting.
Composition History
Georges Lentz's Violin Concerto was developed in collaboration with Arabella Steinbacher, with regular video calls between summer 2022 and its premiere in Sydney in spring 2023.

Arabella Steinbacher, the violinist on this recording, has been performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto since she was 17 years old.

Georges Lentz's Violin Concerto, titled '...to beam in distant heavens...', explores the contrasts between destructive forces like hatred and despair, and a state of absolute love.
Compositional Technique
Georges Lentz's Violin Concerto features spatialization, with the soloist playing off-stage at the beginning and six orchestral violins positioned at the back of the hall.
