Composition History
The Variations on 'Ich bin der Schneider Kakadu,' Op. 121a, were published in 1824 but were likely composed much earlier, possibly around 1802/03 or 1809.

Composer Biography
Beethoven's Allegretto in B-flat major, WoO 39, was composed in a single day and dedicated to Maximiliane Brentano, the ten-year-old daughter of his long-time friend Antonie Brentano, to encourage her piano playing.
Critical Reception
Beethoven's Triple Concerto received only "moderate approval" at its 1808 premiere in Vienna, with critics finding the first movement particularly overloaded and bizarre.
Performer Biography
The Swiss Piano Trio, the ensemble on this recording, has won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta (Italy) in 2003 and the Johannes Brahms Competition (Austria) in 2005.
