Annie Fischer's 'oldschool' playing style, characterized by radiant beauty of tone and effortless phrasing, was reminiscent of Kempff rather than Pollini.

One of Annie Fischer's secrets was playing with ten fingers rather than two hands, which allowed for a natural voicing of polyphony, especially with perfectly regulated pianos.

Annie Fischer's playing always contained an element of classicism, influenced by her mentor Ernő von Dohnányi, who had her study Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier.
