Louis Spohr, a German violinist-composer, was considered by Niccolò Paganini to be a 'Maestro de' Maestri' in 1830.
Instruments
Uto Ughi, the violinist, plays a 1744 Guarneri del Gesù violin and a 1701 Stradivari known as 'Kreutzer,' named after the violinist to whom Beethoven dedicated his famous sonata.

This album was recorded in June 2006 at the Church of San Francesco in Schio, Italy, with the collaboration of the Schio Municipality.

Uto Ughi, the violinist on this recording, began performing publicly at age seven and studied under George Enescu, who also taught Yehudi Menuhin.
