Recording & Production

This album was recorded live at Koncertsalen, DR Koncerthuset, on January 14, 2021, and was produced by Thore Brinkmann.

Composition History

The 12 Nocturnes were composed individually between 2000 and 2014, then gathered and revised into their current form in 2014 to create a sequence of nocturnal scenes.

Composer Biography

Bent Sørensen, the composer, was inspired by humming lullabies for his two daughters and the enigmatic sound of pianos heard from afar in Copenhagen at night.

Performer Biography

Katrine Gislinge, the pianist, is one of Scandinavia's most striking pianists, known for her sensitive interpretations and ability to create a musical space of 'intoxicating sensuality'.

Performer Biography

The Nightingale String Quartet, based in Copenhagen, was founded in 2007 and was the first ensemble ever to receive Gramophone's 'Young Artist of the Year Award' in 2014.
