Angelo Berardi died as maestro di cappella in Santa Maria in Trastevere in Rome, leaving his numerous cages of canaries and other birds to his pupil Raffaelle Raffaelli.

Berardi considered the violin a direct descendant of the magical lyre and credited himself with being the first to present the lyre in graphic form on the frontispiece of his Sinfonie.

Instruments
Fabrizio Longo, the musician, plays an entirely original violin from the second half of the 18th century, attributed to the Neapolitan school.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Berardi was a committed supporter of the "Seconda Prattica," a musical philosophy where the text (oration) is considered the mistress of harmony, unlike earlier practices where harmony was dominant.
