Charles Auguste de Bériot is considered the father of the Franco-Belgian school of violin playing, combining French charm and taste with the pyrotechnics pioneered by Paganini.

Philippe Quint, the violinist on this album, is a Grammy Award nominee who has performed with major orchestras worldwide and had a concerto written for and dedicated to him by Lera Auerbach.

This recording was made at the Concert Hall of the Slovak Radio in Bratislava from October 23rd to 27th, 2006.
