For the concertos by Christoph Nichelmann and Christoph Schaffrath, original cadenzas from separate manuscripts were used for this recording.

The accession of Friedrich II to the throne in 1740 marked an unprecedented heyday in Berlin's musical history, replacing his predecessor's disdain for the arts.
Interpretation
The cadenzas for Carl Heinrich Graun's concerto and Ernst Wilhelm Wolf's concerto were composed by Philippe Grisvard, the harpsichordist on this album, in keeping with the taste of the time.

Philippe Grisvard, the harpsichordist on this album, decided to feature four concertos by largely unknown composers, avoiding the usual well-trodden paths.
