Luigi Boccherini, the composer, came from a distinguished family that included poets and dancers, such as his elder brother Giovanni Gastone, who wrote texts for Haydn and Salieri.

The six sonatas on this album were originally published in London in 1771 by Robert Bremner and are presented here in arrangements for cello and piano by cellist Alfredo Piatti from the 1870s.

Fedor Amosov, the cellist on this recording, started playing at age six and has won first prize in several international competitions, including the 2007 Knushevitsky Cello Competition.
