Georg Böhm, a German Baroque organist and composer, was born in Hohenkirchen in Ohrdruf, Thuringen, in 1661, and received his initial musical training from his father, Johann Balthasar Böhm.

The harpsichord music on this album was recorded at the OnClassical studio, while the organ music was recorded at the Church of S. Antonio Abate in Padova, Italy, in 2012.
Historical Context
Böhm moved to Hamburg around 1693, a city that was a major international trade and finance center with a very active and varied musical life, providing an ideal environment for his musical development.
