Alan Weinberg, composer of the Salsa Suite, is a pianist and professor at Columbia College in South Carolina, and has performed at Carnegie Recital Hall and with many US orchestras.

Performer Biography

Christiane Meininger, the flutist on this album, studied with Prof. Ricarda Bröhl and Severino Gazzelloni, and is dedicated to creating new music for her instrument through collaboration with composers.

Composer's Artistic Vision

Elena Kats-Chernin, an Uzbek-Australian composer, aims for her music to be surprising and new, without alienating her audience, and tailors her compositions to the personalities of the musicians performing them.

Performer Biography

Roger Goldberg, the bassist, initially studied classical violin and viola before switching to double bass and bass guitar for dance and entertainment music, touring with stars like Katja Ebstein and Max Greger.

Album & Artwork

The album's title, "Silver Poetry," is inspired by the sculptures and objects of artist Karl Günter Wolf, whose kinetic sheet in aluminum and stainless steel adorns the CD cover.

Composition History

Claude Bolling, a French musician, won a jazz competition at age 14 and founded his own jazz combo, later composing his innovative Jazz Suite No. 1 for flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal in 1975.
