Composition History
J.S. Bach's 'Bach Double' Concerto (BWV 1043) and the D minor keyboard concerto (BWV 1052) were likely written for Leipzig's Collegium Musicum, a group of university students who performed weekly at Zimmermann's public coffee house.
Interpretation
The artists on this recording, all experienced in period instrument performance, experimented with realizing historical idioms on modern setups, calibrating their setup to the overarching interpretation.

The Boulder Bach Festival, led by directors Zachary Carrettin and Mina Gajić, aims to navigate music history with J.S. Bach as a compass, exploring 500 years of music on various instruments and supporting new works.
