The natural horn, used on this album, relies on crooks (shanks) to change its length and thus its key, and hand-stopping in the bell to alter pitch and timbre.

The fortepiano used for this recording is a copy of a 1792 instrument by Anton Walter, a Viennese maker whose pianos were praised by Mozart and Beethoven.
