Composition History
The recording originated from an earlier project in 2016 by Frédéric Lacroix, a pianist on this album, and Charles Hamann, the oboist, to record Canadian works for oboe and piano.
Performer Biography
Charles Hamann, the oboist, was appointed principal oboe of Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra in 1993 at the age of twenty-two.
Composer's Artistic Vision
The oboist, Charles Hamann, offered the composers the topic of nature as a starting point for each commission, believing it to be part of the Canadian identity.
