Performer Biography
Toquinho, a living legend of bossa nova, has been a partner and confidant of the great poet Vinicius de Moraes since his youth.

Ophélie Gaillard, the cellist on this album, had to adapt her playing to master the 'batida', a highly syncopated bossa nova rhythm, transforming her cello into a 'stuttering cello'.
Composition History
Two new songs on this album, 'Canto da sereia' and 'Fariseus', were co-written by Toquinho and Gabriel Sivak, the pianist and arranger on this album.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Toquinho, the vocalist and guitarist, notes that the arrangements by Gabriel Sivak, the pianist and arranger, blend Ophélie Gaillard's classical world with his Brazilian popular style.
