Carson Cooman, an American composer born in 1982, has a catalog of hundreds of works ranging from solo instrumental pieces to operas and orchestral works.
Instruments
The Sonnenorgel (Sun-organ) of Pfarrkirche St. Peter und Paul, Görlitz, Germany, is named for the 17 golden suns on its facade, which also sounded as a pedal cornet-mixture.
Performer Biography
Erik Simmons, the organist, began playing the organ at age 10 as a chorister at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Glendale, California.
Compositional Technique
All the organ works in this collection by Carson Cooman are based upon beloved Christmas carol melodies, some of which are extremely familiar while others are less known.
Recording & Production
This album was recorded between November 2018 and January 2019 using the Hauptwerk system, with a virtual model created by the Sonus Paradisi project.
Instruments
The original organ in St. Peter and Paul in Görlitz, Germany, was built by Eugenio Casparini and his son, finished in 1703, and was among the largest instruments in Silesia.
