Composition History
Gianluca Cascioli composed these two volumes of Piano Études between November 2020 and July 2023.

For Cascioli, the idea of technique being concealed is essential; he believes technique should convey a message and that the expressive aspect should always be preeminent.

Gianluca Cascioli, the composer and pianist on this album, launched his career by winning the 1994 Umberto Micheli International Piano Competition.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Cascioli's Études are closer to Debussy's model, being rich in continuous changes rather than uniformly centered on a single figure, unlike some other well-known études.
Compositional Technique
The harmonic system used in this collection of Études, called Concinnitas, was created by Alberto Colla, who was also Cascioli's teacher.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Cascioli aims to cultivate musical qualities beyond mechanical skills, such as cantabile playing, connecting his Études to those by Chopin or Liszt.
