The renowned pianist Walter Gieseking was the first to perform Castelnuovo-Tedesco's 'Cipressi' and other works, including 'Alt Wien' and 'Piedigrotta 1924', across Europe.

Castelnuovo-Tedesco's 'Stelle cadenti' (Falling Stars), a cycle of twelve Florentine stornelli, was chosen to represent Italy at the Salzburg chamber-music exhibition in 1922.
