Abram Chasins' early training included studying composition with Rubin Goldmark, who was also a teacher of Aaron Copland and George Gershwin.
Composition History
Almost all of Abram Chasins' published works, including the piano pieces on this album, were written in a fifteen-year period from about 1925 to 1940, largely before his 35th birthday.
Compositional Technique
For his 24 Preludes, Abram Chasins used an unusual key-sequence, following the circle of fifths but grouping major and minor pieces in pairs, and reversing the order of every other pair.
