Franz Schubert, despite his ambition as a composer, could not afford his own piano and never heard public performances of his 'Unfinished' Symphony or the 'Great' C Major Symphony.

Chopin's Piano Concerto in F Minor, Op. 21, was actually composed before his E Minor Concerto, but was published later, leading to its 'No. 2' designation.
