Domenico Cimarosa was the best-known Italian composer of the late eighteenth century, primarily known for his operas.

The sonatas on this album are grouped into two- and three-movement works, following evidence from a British Library manuscript and 'segue' directions in the Florentine manuscript.
Performer Biography
Victor Sangiorgio, the pianist on this recording, began performing publicly at age five and was a soloist with all major Australian orchestras by age nineteen.
Composition History
The first Cimarosa solo keyboard music was discovered in 1924 by Felice Boghen, a piano teacher and librarian at the Istituto Musicale 'Luigi Cherubini' in Florence.

The authenticity of many of Cimarosa's keyboard sonatas is uncertain, as none are preserved in his autograph and stylistic evidence is inconclusive.
