Composer Biography
Max Lifchitz, the conductor and producer of this album, began his musical education in Mexico City and later studied at The Juilliard School and Harvard University.
Composition History
Max Lifchitz's "Yellow Ribbons No. 42" was written to mark North/South Consonance's 25th season and was first performed on February 3, 2006.
Performer Biography
The North/South Chamber Orchestra, described by The New York Times as a "high quality ensemble," inaugurated its regular concert series in 1980.
Recording & Production
The recording sessions took place from January 10-13, 2011, at the Recital Hall of the Purchase Performing Arts Center, Purchase College, State University of New York.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Max Lifchitz's "Yellow Ribbons" series, including the piece on this album, is a personal homage to former American hostages in Iran, celebrating artistic and political freedom.
