David Matthews spent four years as an assistant to Benjamin Britten, a renowned British composer, at Aldeburgh in the late 1960s.

Jac van Steen, the conductor, is also a Professor of Conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, and regularly works with several major music schools.
