Performer Biography
Flautist Emma Halnan, who won the woodwind category of the BBC Young Musician competition in 2010, has performed as a concerto soloist with orchestras such as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Jac van Steen, the conductor, has held posts as Music Director and Chief Conductor with several European orchestras and opera houses, including the Dutch National Ballet and Staatskapelle Weimar.
Composer Biography
David Matthews studied Classics at the University of Nottingham, composed from age 16, and was an assistant to Benjamin Britten in the late 1960s.
Composition History
The Symphonic Diptych is an orchestral reduction of David Matthews's opera "Anna," created at the suggestion of conductor Jac van Steen.
