For Komarov's Fall, Brett Dean was inspired by recordings of space telemetry signals and the cosmonaut's frantic discussions with ground control, which informed the work's dramatic urgency and jagged rhythms.

Simone Young, one of the conductors on this album, has been the general manager and music director of the Hamburg State Opera and music director of the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg since 2005.
