Philip Heseltine, known in musical circles as Peter Warlock, developed an interest in Delius's music as a schoolboy at Eton by studying scores.
Performer Biography
Noriko Ogawa, one of the pianists on this album, was awarded the Japanese Ministry of Education's Art Prize in 1999 for her contribution to Japan's cultural profile worldwide.
Composition History
The inspiration for Delius's famous piece "On hearing the first cuckoo in spring" came from a Norwegian melody, which Delius had likely heard in Edvard Grieg's piano arrangement.

This album is the first complete presentation of all of Philip Heseltine's arrangements for piano four hands at one keyboard of Delius's music.
Recording & Production
The recording was made in October 2002 at Danderyd Gymnasium, a school in Sweden, using a Steinway D grand piano.
Composer Biography
Frederick Delius, the composer of the works on this album, made little use of the piano in his compositions, writing only a small handful of pieces for solo piano.
Composition History
Philip Heseltine, the arranger of these piano works, was a keen supporter of the recently invented self-playing pianola and suggested Delius's Dance Rhapsody be cut for it.
