Performer Biography

Before pursuing classical singing, soprano Britta Glaser studied Fine Arts and English, and ran her own art studio, exhibiting large-scale oil paintings.

Gustav Mahler viewed the poems he set as "blocks of stone" that could be freely shaped, rather than "ideally beautiful" poems that should not be altered.

Richard Strauss began composing his first songs at the age of six, creating around 40 works in his first fifteen years, mainly for his family.
