Christian Jost, the composer of the re-composed Dichterliebe, originally conceived the idea to re-compose Schumann's Dichterliebe for his wife, mezzo-soprano Stella Doufexis.

The recordings for this album were made in two different locations and years: Christian Jost's Dichterliebe in Berlin Konzerthaus in October 2017, and Schumann's works in Schillertheater in August 2014.

Stella Doufexis, the mezzo-soprano on this recording, made this recording of Schumann's original Dichterliebe and Liederkreis op. 39 in the summer of 2014.
