Robert Schumann arranged the poems in his "Dichterliebe" cycle to tell a psychologically meaningful story, creating an emotional journey with alternating moods of mockery, irony, interiority, and deadly seriousness.
Composition History
The second "Dichterliebe" cycle on this album was conceived after composer Stefan Heucke was commissioned in 2009 to write settings for four Heine poems that had not been set by other composers.
