The Abertura ('Overture') by Pedro I was performed at the Théâtre Italien in Paris in 1832, with Rossini, the director, presenting it anonymously, leading some to believe he had composed it.
Cultural Impact
The Hino da Independência do Brasil ('Hymn to the Independence of Brazil') by Pedro I, with slight text changes, is still sung today and is one of Brazil's most loved anthems.
