Composition History
The work was inspired by a book titled "The Theory of Light" by Thomas Preston, which composer Edward Cowie discovered in a second-hand bookshop.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Composer Edward Cowie, an ex-student of physics, collaborated with Light Physicist Sir Michael Berry FRS on this work, calling it "an adventure in illuminations, colours and photons!"
Performer Biography
Pianist Richard Casey won first prize in the British Contemporary Piano Competition in 1997, leading to numerous solo engagements.
Composer Biography
Edward Cowie's undergraduate studies included Physics, and he integrates science, visual arts, and music in his creative process.
