The Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, established in 1929, is the first professional symphony orchestra in Slovakia and has made numerous recordings for various labels.

Edward German was chosen to complete Sir Arthur Sullivan's unfinished operetta, The Emerald Isle, after Sullivan's death in 1900, despite the score being in a rudimentary state.
