This album was produced in association with BBC Radio 3 and the BBC Concert Orchestra, with copyright jointly owned by the BBC and Nimbus Records.
Emma Johnson's career was launched when she won BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1984 at the age of 17.
Emma Johnson, the clarinet soloist, is one of the UK's biggest selling classical artists, having sold over half a million albums worldwide.
The recording of this album was supported by the PRS for Music Foundation and the Wavendon Foundation.
The album features music by four composers who dared to write melodically, even in an age where art often strives to stretch boundaries.
Emma Johnson plays an instrument made by the English clarinet maker, Peter Eaton.
